چکیده

Benchmarking of spatio-temporal databases is an issue of growing importance. In case large real data sets are not available, benchmarking requires the generation of artificial data sets following the realworld behavior of spatial objects that change their locations, shapes and sizes over time. In this report, a generator for changing raster data, called “Generator of Time-Evolving Regional Data” (G-TERD), is presented. The basic concepts that determine the function of G-TERD are the structure of complex two-dimensional raster objects, their color, maximum speed, zoom and rotation-angle per time slot, the influence of other moving or static objects on the speed and on the moving direction of an object, the position and movement of the scene-observer, the statistical distribution of each changing factor and finally, time. In the framework developed, the user can control the generator response by setting several parameters values.

Generating Raster DEM from Mass Points Via TIN Streaming

It is difficult to generate raster Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) from terrain mass point data sets too large to fit into memory, such as those obtained by LIDAR. We describe prototype tools for streaming DEM generation that use memory and disk I/O very efficiently. From 500 million bare-earth LIDAR double precision points (11.2 GB) our tool can, in just over an hour on a standard laptop with ...

Augmenting the Visualisation of Dynamic Raster Surfaces

Despite their aesthetic appeal and condensed nature, dynamic raster surface representations such as a temporal series of a landform and an attribute series of a socio-economic attribute of an area, are often criticised for the lack of an effective information delivery and interactivity. In this work, we readdress some of the earlier raised reasons for these limitations information-laden quality...

Generating Named Road Vector Data from Raster Maps

Raster maps contain rich road information, such as the topology and names of roads, but this information is “locked” in images and inaccessible in a geographic information system (GIS). Previous approaches for road extraction from raster maps typically handle this problem as raster-to-vector conversion and hence the extracted road vector data are line segments without the knowledge of road name...

Dynamind - a Software Tool for Integrated Modelling of Urban Environments and Their Infrastructure

The DynaMind Framework is based on VIBe, a tool for generating virtual case studies including the urban environment and the urban drainage system. In DynaMind the computational framework has been enhanced and generalised to enable the simulation of complex dynamic urban environments and their infrastructure. Simulat ions can be defined by modules (small working task within a simulation) and the...

An interpretation system for cadastral maps

To create a spatial database for some GIS application, it is a big challenge to recognize automatically all the simple and complex map objects on scanned maps. This paper presents a robust map interpretation system developed to process Hungarian land register maps (cadastral maps). Processing starts with a raster-tovector conversion generating a raw vector image from the scanned map. All recogn...
